Get Cho Cookie On!

Cookie Bake 2010 was a quiet affair this year, but a winner nonetheless. We ended up with a low cookie count, but all the dough was baked which doesn't always happen.
As usual we had one attendee who was sick...A petite attendee to try all the goods...and the rest of us baked and drank until we were Mary, I mean merry.
Also this year we opted for a random gift exchange with $15 limit instead of buying for everyone. It was a hit and somehow we all chose the number of the most appropriate gift for ourselves. Weird.
Sadly, there are no pics of our sick friend or our honorary Cattee (love you Megan). We were also short one member this year, but I can't wait to see her back when life gets on track. I also heard the Pfuhn's are getting down on New Year's and TCK was invited. Should be a hoot. And on that note we look forward to seeing you in 2011. Faith will be a farmer, Jenn is trying a new schedule, I turn 30, Jenna will earn her Master's degree and Mel will be a mommy. It's a big year.
XOXO,
The Catty Kitchen

We Went on a Trip

We are back from the first annual Catty Kitchen retreat and I think it was a smash! We took a whole weekend just for us girls at the Lake of the Ozarks-maneuvering their new highway and relaxing in a penthouse that far exceeded our needs. Since their is so much to share I am opting to break this in to several posts because chances are you have been dying to hear more from us anyway. By the way, these may not be in any sort of order whatsoever.

Skipping over Mel's birthday to our stop off in Hermann...the drive to Hermann was the prettiest stretch we could see while on the road. Freshly shaved sheep, autumnal changes in the leaves, overcast, but well lit sky and rolling hills with a coolness in the air. We (well me-I don't think anyone else saw this) also saw two white doves canoodling atop a window unit AC. First time I have ever seen them live and they were beautiful.
Arrival...Fa and Je cozy up in a alley
Outside of Tin Mill Brewery...the beer was good and the place was subtle but classy for a brewhouse.
Evidently in Hermann bathrooms are strictly relegated to the basement.
Mel checking the settings on her new birthday pressie.
Jfer takes shelter from the wind in a tiny tree.
All in all Hermann was very pretty, but quite small. They did have one hell of an antique shop and German fare around every corner. Quaint is a good word for it.
Then we hit the dusty trail, pulling our wind tussled locks into side ponytails a la "Deb" fashion.
The lake was calling our names.

Happy Birthday You Butthead!

Jenna's 26!  Time for a Catty birthday revelation, congregation, separation of church and station, CELEBRATION!  But let's back up for a second.
For whatever reason, birthday season seems to be passing us swiftly this year with all of us left exhausted in its path.  We have been ill-prepared for three birthdays so far this year and we still have two more to go.  Hence the reason J-Fer is up there hurriedly trying to finish one of Jenna's presents-a homemade bath mitt/scrubbie.
J-Fer also took on the task of cake making for our birthday queen-dirt cake with a worm race to celebrate the Ferguson twilight run (post to follow).  It looks like Jennifer's Microsoft Paint pictures.
In the meantime, birthday girl decided it might be time for an outfit change....
She seriously brought two extra outfits, flat iron, hairspray and all kinds of other tricks to keep her looking magnificent throughout the day.
Today's lucky birthday girl scored a bath bomb, bath mitts, bath beads (what can I say, she is kind of stinky), homemade coasters, homemade Rocky Road, Bounce dryer bar (don't ask), adorable reusable grocery tote and her Christmas gift from Jennifer.....a hand-glazed frog to match her bathroom.

Happy Birthday Jenna!!!!  We love you very much.

Girl's Night in the New Year

And it was freezing! We probably didn't have any business being out of our houses, but we just had to get together and be catty.

So we've got a lot of things planned to do this year that we are looking forward to.....for example in an effort to get better at the things we love to do and maybe make some converts out of those who aren't as experienced we are going to do Catty Seminars once a month. It looks like Melissa and Faith will be giving the rest of us tips and hints to improve our cooking and baking. Jenn and Octavia will be expanding the Kitchen's crafty mind. We are not sure what team Jenna is on yet, but I bet she goes with those crafty girls. We are also trying to setup a guest seminar with our favorite jeweler in the Lou.............Katie Miller of Scarlett Garnet. She is going to show how to revamp our old, worn out and sometime ugly jewelry into new accessories.

Look......It's the Mona Lisa with purple balls on her face! Moving on.........

Anyway, since Mel lives far away and is smarter than the rest of us, we had a good time trying to have a video conference with her. It was totally unfair because she came equipped with props and the rest of us just laughed our asses off. We got a chance to catch up with her since she returned from her cruise and discuss all the new plans.

Isn't she so pretty? Our hostess with the mostess guided us through our video conference while we practiced our kegels and discussed the Fatty Catty plan. What is the Fatty Catty plan you say? You'll see.......updates are coming and we are going to have some of the best habits you can think of.

Where is Cookie Bake?

Can someone please post the photos from cookie bake?!  What the hell is going on around here?

Hutton's 27th Year on the Planet Earth

This party started with six pounds of ground chuck, three packs of hot dogs, upgraded buns, pita and hummus, pasta salad, salad, cookie cake, one dozen cupcakes and all the fixings............Jenna tends to buy a lot of food. :)
Chicken and Lunchbox being cute...
The berfday boi...
Faith trying to get her mouth around a 1/2 pound meatwad...

Not a great pic, but worth it as Jenn debates ever brushing her teeth again...

It looks worse than it is....
Loki, the other birthday boy....although poor thing had to endure a rather embarrassing bowel malfunction in front of everyone. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
After many attempts at trying to take attractive pics together we finally made it work with a funny face. Those bags under my eyes aren't very funny. :)

Overboard in O'Fallon

Meet Loki......He is Jenna's sweet doxie mix rescue dog with lots of personality and infamous 'juices'. He enjoys terrorizing baby birds, gigantic dog bones and baths several times a week. His mom is notorious for going overboard........for example on his doggie chews.......
That thing is as long as my arm! She also made a fruit salad to feed an entire Southern Family reunion. I was so full from her enormous taco salad thing (delicious by the way) that I never quite made room for the fruit salad. I probably should have offered to take some home because I have no idea how her and Micah will finish it before it goes bad.
Faith looks rather subdued here, but I can understand why...I kept picking fights with her and she got bit by a vampire.
Luckily, I don't think they got her enough to turn her, although her teeth were looking rather sharp at night's end. Time to make some silver bullets....just in case.
Wait I think I found the actual culprit of Faith's lacerations....but she doesn't look capable of inflicting such pain. Meet Peanut Butter Vess Root Beer Pfeifer-Kuhn. Jenn and Jay's new cat who kind of freaked out when she met Loki and insisted on tearing Faith to shreds, but I am not sure J-fer did not put her new feline companion up to it.

A Birthday Story

Would you like some tea? From Long Island? Coming right up!
How about a Long Island Iced Tea party? Dainty little Jenna is our guest of honor.
Hopefully she didn't inhale any bugs...
Now she can make stove top popcorn whenever she wants...........try to not to make too much at once dear. You have a knack for that.
Where did she learn how to make 'Idea Corn'? That is my favorite popcorn....uh-oh, where did it go?
After an evangelical rendition of 'Happy Birthday' we watched The Office and tried not to pass out in our drunken yet charming stupor.
We hope you have a great birthday Jenna!

With all our love,
The Catty Kitchen

It's Your Berfday...Get Bizzee

Happy Birthday Jenna!

We have some surprises in store for you. We can't wait to see you Thursday for a popping good time!
