Yarn Devil

My boss whom I have worked with for four years is being transferred to a different location. The shitty thing is I really enjoy working for her. How many of you can say you like your boss? Anyway, so that she will never forget us heathens she presided over for so long I crocheted her a devil.

He's not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination, but he probably took me about an hour and a half to complete. The idea here is that her new employees will have this guy lobbed at their heads when they piss her off and also a gentle reminder of the people who miss her. I guess if I make him again I will give him more production time and perhaps a hellish body.
Well, I guess the birthday celebration is officially over, along with my vacation/spring recess. I would like to thank everyone who made it a success. Everyone who added to the stress of the week, you can piss off.
I spent a weekend in Columbia, a birthday tradition for the past few years.
Monday night, Justin and I almost burned down the backyard with our amazing pyro-skills and lack of logical reasoning. Burning a ten-foot pile of extremely dry wood and dead leaves is not the best idea.
On my actual birthday, I got a gigantic bag full of balloons (including one that sings) from my coworkers. You can see some of them in one of the pictures below. Justin and I went to Crown Candy, the zoo, Annie Gunn’s, I Tap, and topped it off with a visit to Greg’s. It was great. I declared it my best birthday ever.

Thursday was my Girls Night Birthday. Unfortunately, it was just three of us, but it was great fun anyway. I can’t wait for Jenna to come back. We had hot dogs and salad and a cake with cereal and marshmallow trimmings (yummy). I got an amazing pillow to match my Christmas present. What the picture doesn’t show, is the cutest little bird on the back just hanging out! Adorable. AND I got these really cute eggs that grow flowers…that’s not really the best explanation for them, but I’ll post some pictures once they’re grown. We had a nice fire, attended to by Octavia, some song, some dance, some Michael Scott. Once I got home, we had a fire another, more controlled fire in the backyard.
Friday was the family birthday party, which I will not talk about. It was sad. The end.
Saturday was my birthday Mad Titans show. Faith has also posted some of the pictures of how much fun it was. Even without the birthday announcements, it was a lot of fun. Apparently, the weather was really bad on the way home, but I didn’t even notice.
Sunday, we laid low, ate some barbecue, and visited with Octavia and John.
And then I ended my vacation with a bang. About three minutes before I went to bed, I got really sick. I think my body was so mad at me for making it go back to the real world, it just couldn’t take it anymore.
Now, back at work, I feel like it was a blur. I’m really glad to be back in touch with my e-world, but I am sad I have to work and learn and all that other crap.

Happy Saturday Birthday J-Fer

Last night was Jennifer's Saturday Birthday at Lemmon's. Good times were had by all. The night was filled with birthday pizza, dancing, great music, and lots of laughs.

Here are a few pics of the evening.

Crunk Kitchen

Jennifer is officially 24 and to celebrate we had hot dogs and boxed macaroni (a child's favorite meal), only I forgot to purchase the mac-n-cheese. Faith substituted with a healthy salad instead. We sat around the fire and drank some beers, discussing which genitalia is designed better. Everyone is in agreement that females are blessed with more attractive anatomy, but I am the only one that thinks the vulva is beautiful. Anyway, Jenn loved the pillow we made for her and Tim played piano for us later with his glasses on! It was so frickin' hot....

The First Springtime Birthday

Happy Birthday to Jennifer!

I just realized that the four of us each have a birthday within Spring's lively parameters. So be prepared to celebrate with us through June............and presents are always welcome!

Octavia-April 18
Jenna-May 16
Faith-June 17

So tonight Faith and I will be preparing for tomorrow's festivities, but they are a surprise so I can't share until after the party. And Jenn hates surprises! But hopefully she will enjoy herself at least somewhat.

On a more solemn note, we would like to express our sympathy for Jenna and her family. Her grandfather passed away this morning. Our hearts are with you and your family.

Rock the vote!

Let me just start off by saying for some reason I cannot change the text color for our poll. I can change any other color on the page, but not the poll so now it is impossible to read. For those who don't know though we are currently taking a poll on the cutest couple-Tim and Faith, Jenna and Micah, Jenn and Justin or Octavia and John. Please feel free to cast your votes through our comments section. The important thing to remember here is that John and I may not be the cutest couple, but we are the funniest which makes us multitudes "cuter" than those other jackals.

Jenn and I did some research for our mother's day gift baskets. We found some fabric for our eye masks and I am going to start working out a pattern for the neckwarmers. The fabric we found is very soft and cool to the touch. Here is a picture of me testing out fabrics to see if they would soothe my weary eyes.

Needless to say, we did not purchase the fabric that I rubbed my eyes all over. Anyway, I have loads to do today since I am not working a Saturday for once. Ta-ta!

Slow nite in the kitchen

It was just me and Jenn last night. Faith is relaxing on vacation and Jenna is visiting with her hubby. Jenn and I hammered out some details for our shop we are trying to open. We are going to try to put together a few gift baskets for mother's day so check back with us around the end of April or beginning of May.
If any of you entrepreneurs have any suggestions, tips or resources for us please drop us a line. We are interested in doing some craft shows too. Our gift baskets will tentatively include a neck warmer and eye mask. All will be handmade and we will try to buy local whenever possible.
It was a shorter evening, but it was nice for both of us because we each have a case of the sniffles. And lucky me woke up with a nose bleed this morning and daughter who woke up on the diva side of the bed today.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Allow me to introduce...SHERBET

I completed a new doll for my daughter yesterday and we named her Sherbet (pronounced phonetically) because of her colors. I am pretty happy with her for the most part. There is a somewhat noticeable seam on her right side where I switched colors. I also wanted to try something different for the eyes this time, but I don't have my notions where they need to be for easy access. All in all I am very pleased with the result and my girl loves her which is the most important. I am conjuring up a cyclops of sorts to make for my son, although I need to decide which direction to go-ogre cyclops or alien cyclops? Does anyone have a preference?

Do you 'Upcycle'?

Upcycling is the new trendy term for repurposing items you already own into another useful item. This is an obvious benefit to the planet as well as a good way for us to engage our pitifully trodden on imaginations.
For example, I have a wrought iron plant stand that serves me no purpose currently because it is far to small to hold any plants I have. However, I am having trouble blogstorming ideas for what to do with it. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Also let us know what items you have repurposed in your own home.

Gurlls Nite Hang Over

Third time's a charm! We finally have a successful bloggie blog!

Only the four of us know how much work went into The Catty Kitchen, but I hope all of our millions of potential followers appreciate what we went through last night to give you a little insight into our amazing lives.

Blogging issues (i.e. Defining a blog, What is TOO darn cute?, Who's boob should I grab and how firmly?, etc.) aside, last night was a tremendous success. We have plenty of ideas floating around for the baby blog, our future business, who has the best potty selection, and how to make Black and Tans. With such an awesome electronic outlet for these ideas, it seems silly to keep a paper list, but that's exactly what we did. It took up twos of thirds of a sheet of paper. Hopefully, in the coming months, we'll be able to move that list over to a more blogging friendly format and recycle that paper!

Every day in the Catty Kitchen isn't pretty, people!

So this is our bloggie blog about Thursdays with us and whatever else we deem necessary. We try to get together every week to bitch about other girls, watch 'The Office', drink wine and occasionally do stuff. It all sounds really trite, but we are actually quite magnificent. Please join us in our merrymaking and slug juggling and we will try not be too gurrly. We will, however, most likely offend you.
